LED displays are widely used in various fields such as commercial advertising, stage performances, sports events, and information dissemination due to their advantages of high brightness, high contrast ratio, and low power consumption. However, due to complex usage environments and high frequency of use, LED displays are prone to various faults, affecting their normal operation and service life. Through scientific maintenance techniques, common faults can be effectively prevented, and the service life of LED displays can be extended.

I. Environmental Control Techniques

(1) Temperature Control
The operating temperature range of LED displays should be maintained between -20°C and 50°C (for outdoor use) or at room temperature (for indoor use). High temperatures can accelerate the aging of components, affecting the performance and lifespan of the display. In hot summers, if conditions permit, it is best to place the display in an air-conditioned room or use a fan to assist with heat dissipation. At the same time, avoid exposing the display to high temperatures for extended periods, such as in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

(2) Humidity Control
Humidity is also an important factor affecting the lifespan of LED displays. High humidity may lead to internal condensation, causing circuit corrosion and even short circuits, resulting in permanent damage. Low humidity may generate static interference, affecting the normal operation of the display. Generally, the humidity for outdoor displays should be controlled between 10% and 90%, while for indoor displays, it should be controlled between 30% and 60%. In high-humidity areas, such as during the rainy season, the display should be used at least once a week, with each use lasting more than 2 hours to drive away moisture. Additionally, desiccants can be placed inside the enclosure to further reduce humidity.

(3) Dust and Acid-Base Environment Control
Dust and acid-base environments can cause severe damage to LED displays. Dust can accumulate on the surface and inside the display, affecting heat dissipation and display quality, and may also enter the circuit, causing short circuits and other faults. Acid-base environments can corrode the metal components and circuit boards of the display, reducing its service life. Therefore, LED displays should not be installed in dusty, acidic, alkaline, or flammable environments. Outdoor displays should achieve an IP65 or higher protection rating to prevent dust and water ingress.

II. Daily Cleaning Techniques

(1) Selection of Cleaning Tools
Using the correct cleaning tools is crucial for protecting LED displays. Specialized cleaning tools and materials designed for displays, such as microfiber cloths or dedicated display cleaners, should be used. Avoid using chemicals, alcohol, or cleaners containing solvents, as they may damage the screen surface. At the same time, do not use sharp or rough objects to wipe the display to prevent scratches.

(2) Cleaning Methods
When cleaning an LED display, use gentle motions and avoid applying excessive pressure to prevent scratches or damage to the screen. For dust on the screen surface, a soft-bristled brush can be used to gently sweep it away. For stubborn stains, the cleaner can be sprayed onto a cleaning cloth, which is then used to gently wipe the display surface. It is forbidden to spray liquid directly onto the screen to prevent it from seeping into the screen edges and damaging internal components.

(3) Cleaning Frequency
The cleaning frequency should be determined based on the usage environment and pollution level of the display. Outdoor displays, which are exposed to wind, sun, and rain for extended periods, tend to accumulate more dust and traces of rainwater, so it is recommended to clean them once a week. Indoor displays can be cleaned once a month. Regular cleaning helps maintain display quality and color accuracy, extending their service life.

III. Power On/Off and Power Supply Techniques

(1) Proper Power On/Off Sequence
Following the correct power on/off sequence can avoid unnecessary damage to the display. When turning on the device, first start the control computer and allow it to run normally before turning on the LED display screen. When shutting down, first turn off the power to the LED display screen, close the control software, and then properly shut down the computer. Turning off the computer without first turning off the display can cause high-brightness spots on the screen, burning out the lamps, which can have serious consequences. At the same time, there should be an interval of more than 5 minutes between power on/off operations. Avoid turning on the screen in a full-white screen state, as this is the maximum power state, which generates the largest inrush current for the entire power distribution system.

(2) Power Supply Stability
The stability of the power supply for LED displays directly affects their normal operation and lifespan. A DC 5V power supply should be used to ensure stable voltage and current, avoiding surges that can damage the lamp beads. The power should be cut off during thunderstorms to prevent lightning strikes. The positive and negative terminals of the power supply must not be reversed, as this can burn out the product and may even cause a serious fire. At the same time, maintain a stable power supply and implement proper grounding protection to avoid the risk of electric leakage. The grounding resistance should be ≤4Ω, and a three-stage lightning protection device should be installed.

(3) Power Supply and Wiring Inspection
Regularly inspecting the power supply and wiring is an important measure for preventing faults. The stability of the power supply voltage should be checked once a month to ensure it is within the specified range of the equipment. At the same time, check the reliability of the grounding protection and whether the grounding wire and neutral wire are reliably isolated. In addition, check the connecting wires and driver boards for looseness or aging, and promptly replace damaged components. If abnormal phenomena such as short circuits, tripping, burned wires, or smoke are observed, do not repeatedly power on the device for testing. Instead, promptly identify the problem to avoid causing greater losses.

IV. Usage Habit Techniques

(1) Avoiding Long-Term Static High-Brightness Images
Displaying static images for extended periods, such as logos, menus, or game interfaces, may lead to "image retention" or "screen burn-in," accelerating the aging of LED lamp beads. Therefore, avoid displaying static high-brightness images for long periods. It is recommended to set dynamic content or implement timed switching, with dynamic content accounting for ≥30%. At the same time, adjust the brightness according to the environment (1000-2000 cd/m² for indoor use and ≥5000 cd/m² for outdoor use) to reduce energy consumption and component load.

(2) Reasonably Adjusting Brightness and Contrast
Adjust the brightness and contrast of the display appropriately according to environmental conditions and personal preferences. Excessively high brightness and contrast will increase the power consumption and component load of the display, accelerating its aging. Excessively low brightness and contrast will affect the display quality. Therefore, reasonably adjust the brightness and contrast to achieve the best display effect and energy-saving effect.

(3) Avoiding Collisions and Impacts
LED displays are precision electronic devices and should be protected from collisions and impacts. Mechanical damage may cause the display to crack or pixel failures, affecting its normal use and lifespan. Handle the display carefully during transportation, installation, and use to avoid collisions or impacts. At the same time, protective devices such as guardrails and cushions can be installed around the display to further reduce the risk of collisions and impacts.

V. Regular Inspection and Maintenance Techniques

(1) Regular Inspection Contents

Regular inspections are an important means of preventing faults and extending the lifespan of displays. A comprehensive inspection should be carried out once a month, including checking whether the display effect, connecting wires, power cords, driver boards, and control systems are normal. The specific inspection contents are as follows:

Display Effect Inspection: Observe whether the display has faults such as black screens, flower screens, flickering, uneven brightness, or color distortion. If abnormalities are found, they should be promptly addressed.

Connecting Wires and Power Cords Inspection: Check whether the connecting wires and power cords are securely connected and whether there is any looseness, aging, or damage. If any issues are found, they should be promptly replaced.

Driver Board Inspection: Check the driver board for faults such as cold solder joints or short circuits. If any are found, they should be promptly repaired or replaced.

Control System Inspection: Check whether the control system is working normally, such as whether there are faults with the sending card, receiving card, or control software. If any are found, they should be promptly addressed.

(2) Professional Inspection and Maintenance
In addition to regular daily inspections, professional technicians should be contacted periodically for in-depth inspection and maintenance. A comprehensive inspection should be carried out once a year, including inspection of the heat dissipation system, color calibration, and a thorough hardware inspection. Professional technicians can use specialized inspection equipment and tools to conduct more in-depth and accurate inspection and maintenance of the display, promptly identifying and resolving potential problems to ensure the normal operation of the display and extend its service life.

(3) Long-Term Storage Power-On and Moisture-Proof Treatment
For LED displays that have not been used for a long time, they should be powered on for more than 2 hours each month to avoid the phenomenon of dead lamps. At the same time, in high-humidity environments, if the screen has not been used for more than 3 days, a preheating power-on method should be adopted each time the screen is lit: First, preheat the screen at 30%-50% brightness for 4-8 hours, and then adjust it to normal brightness (80%-100%) to light up the screen, thereby expelling moisture to ensure normal operation without abnormalities. If the screen has not been used for more than 7 days, a preheating power-on method should be adopted each time the screen is lit: First, preheat the screen at 30%-50% brightness for more than 12 hours, and then adjust it to normal brightness (80%-100%) to light up the screen. In addition, during storage, the display should be placed in a dry, ventilated area with a temperature below 30°C and humidity below 60% to avoid squeezing or direct sunlight. At the same time, dust covers or packaging materials should be added to prevent physical damage.
