I. Preliminary Preparations

(I) Tool and Material Preparation

Tools

Screwdrivers: Prepare appropriate screwdrivers according to the type of screws used to fix the LED modules. Common types include Phillips screwdrivers and flat-head screwdrivers. They are used to disassemble and install the screws securing the LED modules.

Multimeter: It is used to measure parameters such as voltage and current of the LED modules, helping to determine whether the module is truly faulty and to check the working status of the new module after replacement.

Anti-static Wrist Strap: LED modules are sensitive to static electricity, which can damage their internal electronic components. Wearing an anti-static wrist strap can effectively prevent static electricity from causing harm to the modules.

Tweezers: They are used to pick up small components such as screws and connecting wires, facilitating the operation.

Suction Cup: If the LED modules are installed on the display screen by adsorption, the suction cup can help easily remove the modules.

Materials

New LED Module: Ensure that the new module is completely consistent with the original faulty module in terms of model and specifications, including size, resolution, brightness, and interface type.

Spare Screws: Prepare some spare screws with the same specifications as the original ones in case screws are lost or damaged during the disassembly process.

Cleaning Supplies: Such as dust-free cloths and cleaning agents, which are used to clean the surface of the display screen before and after replacing the module to ensure good display effects.

(II) Safety Precautions

Power-off Operation: Before performing any replacement operations, the power to the LED display screen must be cut off to prevent electric shock accidents. This can be done by turning off the corresponding circuit breaker in the distribution box.

Anti-static Measures: In addition to wearing an anti-static wrist strap, ensure that the operating environment is dry. Avoid operating in a humid environment, as humidity can increase the likelihood of static electricity generation. Meanwhile, lay an anti-static mat on the operating table.

Avoiding Collisions: During the process of handling and replacing the LED modules, handle them with care to avoid collisions between the modules and other objects, which may damage the LED light beads or other components inside the modules.

(III) Fault Diagnosis and Confirmation

Observing the Phenomenon: Carefully observe the performance of the faulty module on the LED display screen, such as whether there are phenomena like black screens, screen distortions, flickering, or uneven brightness. Record the specific location and manifestation of the fault.

Preliminary Detection: Use a multimeter to conduct a preliminary detection of the faulty module. For example, measure the power supply voltage of the module to ensure it is normal and check if the connecting wires between the module and the control card are loose or broken.

Comparative Analysis: If possible, compare the faulty module with adjacent normal modules to observe differences in their display effects and further determine the cause of the fault.

II. Locating and Marking the Faulty Module

(I) Module Location

Locating Based on Display Content: If the display screen shows specific patterns or text, the position of the faulty module can be determined according to the correspondence between the faulty area and the display content. For example, if the faulty area displays a part of an advertisement picture, the row and column of the faulty module can be roughly determined by analyzing the layout of the picture and the arrangement of the modules.

Locating Using Control Software: Many LED display screens are equipped with control software, through which the numbers and statuses of various modules on the display screen can be viewed. Find the area with abnormal display on the software and correspondingly determine the number and position of the faulty module.

Physical Marking Location: Directly mark the faulty module on the display screen, for example, by sticking a sticky note on the module frame and indicating the module's position and fault phenomenon for convenient subsequent operations.

(II) Marking Precautions

Clear Marking: Ensure that the content of the marking is clear and visible to avoid confusion during the operation. Different colors of sticky notes or marking pens can be used to distinguish different fault information.

Avoiding Damage to the Module: During the marking process, be careful not to damage the module. For example, do not use sharp objects to engrave marks on the module surface.

III. Disassembling the Faulty Module

(I) Disassembly Steps

Removing the Module Frame: If the LED module has a frame, first use a screwdriver to remove the screws that fix the frame and take the frame off. Pay attention to keeping the screws properly for use when installing the new module later.

Disconnecting the Connecting Wires: Find the connecting wires between the module and the control card or other modules and gently pull out the wire plugs. When plugging or unplugging the connecting wires, be careful not to use excessive force to avoid damaging the plugs or sockets.

Taking off the Module: According to the installation method of the module, use appropriate tools to remove the module. If the module is fixed by screws, use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws and then carefully remove the module from the installation position. If the module is installed by adsorption, use a suction cup to gently suck the module and then slowly remove it.

(II) Disassembly Tips

Collaborative Work: For large-sized LED modules, it is best to have two or more people collaborate during the disassembly process. One person is responsible for holding the module, and the other person is responsible for unscrewing the screws or plugging/unplugging the connecting wires to ensure that the module will not fall or be damaged during the disassembly process.

Following the Order: Disassemble in a certain order, such as first removing the frame, then disconnecting the connecting wires, and finally taking off the module. This can avoid operational confusion and improve disassembly efficiency.

IV. Installing the New Module

(I) Pre-installation Inspection

Checking the Appearance of the New Module: Carefully check whether the appearance of the new module is damaged, such as whether there are scratches, cracks, or deformations. At the same time, check whether the LED light beads on the module are loose or damaged.

Verifying the Parameters: Double-check whether the model and specifications of the new module are consistent with those of the original faulty module, including size, resolution, brightness, and interface type. Ensure that the new module is compatible with other parts of the display screen.

(II) Installation Steps

Placing the Module: Carefully place the new module into the installation position, ensuring that the module is aligned with the installation position.

Connecting the Connecting Wires: Align the plugs of the connecting wires between the module and the control card or other modules with the sockets and gently insert them to ensure that the plugs are tightly inserted. When connecting the wires, pay attention to the direction and polarity of the wires to avoid reverse insertion.

Fixing the Module: Use screws to fix the module in the installation position. When tightening the screws, pay attention to applying an appropriate amount of force. Do not over-tighten or under-tighten them to avoid damaging the module or affecting the firmness of the installation.

Installing the Frame: If the module has a frame, install the frame onto the module and fix it with screws.

(III) Installation Precautions

Avoiding Compression: During the installation process, avoid applying excessive pressure to the new module to prevent damaging the internal electronic components of the module or causing the LED light beads to shift.

Checking the Connections: After the installation is completed, carefully check whether the connecting wires are firmly connected and whether there are any loose or poor contact situations.

V. Commissioning and Testing

(I) Power-on Commissioning

Restoring the Power Supply: After confirming that the new module is installed, close the corresponding circuit breaker in the distribution box to restore the power supply to the LED display screen.

Observing the Display Effect: After powering on, carefully observe the display effect of the new module and its surrounding areas. Check for phenomena such as black screens, screen distortions, flickering, or uneven brightness. At the same time, check whether the display of the entire display screen is coordinated.

(II) Commissioning Using Control Software

Parameter Settings: Use the control software to set the parameters of the new module, such as brightness, contrast, and color, to make them consistent with other parts of the display screen.

Function Testing: Use the control software to test various functions of the display screen, such as playing videos, pictures, and text, to check whether the new module can normally display various contents.

(III) Fault Troubleshooting and Handling

If the Display is Abnormal: If abnormal display is found during the commissioning process, first check whether the connecting wires are correctly connected and whether there are any loose or poor contact situations. A multimeter can be used again to measure parameters such as voltage and current of the module to determine whether there is a hardware fault.

Reinstalling or Replacing: If the connecting wires are normal but the module still displays abnormally, there may be a quality problem with the module itself. At this time, you can try to reinstall the module to ensure that it is firmly installed. If the problem still exists, a new module needs to be replaced.
